Welcome ECP family to your 2/28/23 weekly devotion (Weeklies) originated by Charles L. Robinson Jr. of Edifying Christian Publications.
Jesus crucifixion at the cross is a means to remind you regarding God placing his presence of love for him; love for his son - Jesus Christ; and love for you through people of special affectionate-relationship (the beloved-loved) in your life for support. Justifiably, even in the circumstance of being painfully wounded; hanging by both hands; body awkwardly positioned that the slightest movement creates additional pain; and blood pressure lowering due to prolonged hanging while heart rate increasing all equating to heart failure (a common consensus from medical studies regarding crucifixion effects) could not and can not stop God's presence of love for him; for his son - Jesus Christ; and love for people through people of special affectionate-relationships (the beloved-loved) for each others support. ECP family believe it. Jesus and John (one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ) special affectionate-relationship is an example in God's inspired word just for your belief.
John referred to as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" at the cross - loved representing special affectionate-relationship for each other (at the cross); love for God within the special relationship (at the cross); love for his son - Jesus Christ within the special relationship (at the cross). John being the unnamed disciple at the cross is concluded by literary criticism identifying John commonly being illustrated separate from Peter (another close Jesus disciple) and Peter's denial of Jesus the day of his (Jesus) crucifixion implementing Peter not being present at the cross. This did not imply that John is the only disciple that Jesus had love for. However, biblical recording illustrates that John was more engaged with Jesus than most of the other disciples (Peter and James were close as well.) John was present at Jesus's transfiguration; present at the Garden of Gethsemane; present at Jairus house; and prepared the Passover by Jesus's request (to name just a few examples.) Yet, John was somewhat impulsive and ferocious (Son of Thunder.) His loyalty to Jesus, in the midst of his reputation of being initially not gentle or considerate, still tremendously helped-supported Jesus. Jesus left the responsibility to John to care for his mother (before entering death at the cross) illustrated their special affectionate relationship. It was tradition for the eldest son to care for his mother and once the eldest son died then the responsibility passes to the eldest son's brother(s). Jesus did not pass the responsibility to his brothers to care for his mother. Jesus's brothers could physically care or their mother, however, (I believe) that Jesus wanted his mother's care in the hands of someone one who would not only care for her physically but also spiritually. Jesus's brothers did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One.
The Father (God the heavenly Father in the third heaven at his throne) placed his presence of love for him; and love for Jesus Christ (God's son) through John for Jesus's support. ECP family, the Father (God the heavenly Father in the third heaven at his throne) places his presence of love for him; love for his son - Jesus Christ; and love for you all through people of special affectionate relationships just for your godly-loving support. Be encouraged, you have support (physically and spiritually.)
"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother! Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home". John 19: 26-27
